Fresno
County is situated at the central part of the State of California. In
area, it has over 6,000 square miles, and is the fifth largest county in
the state. Whether your an outdoor or indoor enthusiast, Fresno has much
to offer. Fresno is also within a few hours drive of three national parks,
it offers seven easily accessible lakes, 2 major rivers and several

Shortly after
WWII, rapid urbanization caused Los Angeles County to permanently
relinquish its agricultural crown. Since that time, Fresno County has
never looked back. Near-year round sun and rich, productive soil has
made Fresno the nation's number one agricultural county since 1949. In
1997 alone, total agricultural product sales totaled $3,313,426, 000.
From poultry to raisins to cotton, more than 250 agricultural
commodities trace their beginnings to Fresno.
As important as
agriculture is, it is only part of Fresno County's diverse economy. As
the hub of Central California, it is also the regional home of the state
and federal government, the judicial and regulatory branches and major
private and public medical facilities. Companies in Fresno manufacture
machinery, medical equipment, metal products, lumber products, and
textiles.
Fresno's
temperature is mild and pleasant throughout the majority of the year.
Elevations vary from 100 ft. above sea level on the Valley floor to over
14,000 ft. in the Sierra Mountain peaks provide climate variations from
Mediterranean to alpine.
The summer average temperature in Fresno County is 94 degrees with low
humidity, and evening temperatures in the 70's are ideal for outdoor
entertaining, concerts in the park, and sporting events. The winter
average temperature is 45 degrees. Fresno County enjoys sunshine an
average 83% of the year, with 9.86 inches of average rainfall. The rich,
productive soil of the valley floor, contributes to Fresno's reputation
as the number one agribusiness county of the nation.
